Three production patterns: wire, flats, billets

The Lecco District has spontaneously assembled around the three main Production patterns which are the foundations of the local metal an mechanical industry: wire, flats and billets.
Today they still are an all-important section of the framework of small and medium-size companies operating in the district: wire, flats and billets.

Each of these three patterns develops inside the district, covering the entire manufacture of semi-finished products, to obtain - through subsequent stages - finished products in a number of complex shapes or as single components, to be supplied to a number of different end users.

A highly specialized production is associated to a remarkable number of complementary products and processes. While, on the one side, close interdependent relations are established among companies, on the other several processing stages or a number of different processes are used by one single company.

However one more factor distinguishing the Lecco District from others, is that manufacturers of machines, plants, components and automation suiting production processes, are operating within the District. This undoubtedly is competitive advantage, which materializes into a constant circulation of technological knowledge skills among the companies ensuring a timely and efficient response.
