One of the main strong points of Lecco’s metallurgical and mechanical district is the presence of widespread technical skill.

It is important to remember that most of the metallurgical and mechanical industries founded in the fifties were founded by employees of large companies, usually specialised technicians or foremen who decided to go into business for themselves.

In other cases, it was the company itself that created an external structure for certain processing stages, setting up another company the management of which was turned over to one of its former employees. In both cases, the new businessman had the technical and operating skills that enabled him to start a new production, even if he were not an expert in strategies and management.

Step by step, the technical entrepreneur expanded his portfolio of clients and the size of his company and was forced to acquire competence in the fields of sales and management, either on his own or by hiring qualified personnel.

In the last dozen or so years, these businessmen have found themselves operating in an even more dynamic and articulated technological context, in a global market, and at the same time tending toward hyperspecialisation that requires additional, updated competence that is hard to acquire autonomously.

To deal with all this the businessman has created a “microteam” around himself, consisting of highly qualified personnel in which the new generations of his own family fit harmoniously, capable of responding with the maximum competence but with equal flexibility and dynamism, to the managerial requirements of the market and the demands of the market.

In addition, belonging to the District and the continuous exchange of know-how among the companies gives them ideal indications to face the challenges of the market and program their growth with certainty.
